  Willie's Down
©2004 Kimrea

Willie's down in the basement
His head between his knees
Willie's down in the basement
Out stone cold in a junkie sleep

Earlier this evening out on the street
I saw him underneath a lampost looking sharp and clean
Like he'd pulled himself together, straightened out his life
Now he's down there in the celler, folded like a pocket knife

Willie's down in the basement
His head between his knees
Willie's down in the basement
Out stone cold in a junkie sleep

Sitting upstairs in the window, I was watching the scene
Looking for the action, I could see most everything
There was dandy Willie strutting his stuff
Now he's crumpled like a car wreck, It's just so tough

Willie's down in the basement
His head between his knees
Willie's down in the basement
Out stone cold in a junkie sleep

I heard somebody shouting, get him out of here
Who let him in the door, you know he can't sleep there
Dump in in the alley, it's just another day
You know it's nothing personal, it always ends this way

Willie's down in the basement
His head between his knees
Willie's down in the basement
Out stone cold in a junkie sleep
